jewel

So here it is, our daughter's costume in all it's homemade glory. She watched Rio, had to be Jewel, and I think it turned out pretty fantastic.

This was another first for me, and a somewhat sentimental one at that since my mom always made our costumes growing up. I really enjoyed the puzzle of making something like this from scratch and I couldn't help but think about my mom during the process. I had several "what would mom do" moments as I finally learned how to sew {sort of}, nursed some hot glue gun burns, and played with R.I.T. dye. Oh the joys.

And, after some coercing, begging, pleading, etc. I got her to wear her mask for all but 3.5 seconds. That still counts, right?
